Invalid Value for Registry error on all .JPG and .PNG files in Windows 10 and 11

When opening a .JPG, .PNG, or other image file you receive an error similar to the one below.

it doesn't matter where the image is located it just won't open.

Trying to do an "Open With" does not work either.

In order to fix this problem for all images on your computer you have to reset the Microsoft Photo Viewer.

Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps >

Click on the Photos app.

On the right side you will see the ... Select Advanced Options,

then scroll down and click the Reset Button.

Close the window and proceed to open images.
