Teams: Uploading files to a Teams channel
Whether it is a single file or multiple files and folders, moving files to Teams is an easy process and you have multiple methods to accomplish this task.
Using the Teams app or Teams website
- Navigate to the Teams site that will receive the files.
- Select the appropriate channel within the team. In this example, we have chosen the General channel within the Test Team Teams site.
- Click the Files tab within the channel.
- Navigate to the folder where you wish to upload the files.
- Now you have 2 options to upload files to the selected folder:
- Click the Upload button.
- Drag and drop files to the Teams app.
Using a Teams folder synched with the OneDrive App
This method assumes you are on a computer with the OneDrive App installed and running. It allows you to access a Teams folder as if it were a local storage location on your computer.
- If you have not already done so, synchronize your Teams folders you wish to update with your local computer using the OneDrive App. Instructions for accomplishing this can be found with this knowledgebase article: Teams: Synching a Teams file folder with the OneDrive App
- Within your local computer's file explorer, move all files you wish to upload to the synchronized folder where you want them to go. The OneDrive App will then sync them with your Teams folder. Depending on the size and number of files and folders you are uploading, this can take some time.
