Teams: Creating a vanity URL for a personal Teams Meeting
One feature Zoom has which is missing in Teams is the ability to create a personal meeting room with a meaningfully named link. Microsoft Teams does not natively offer this feature at this time. However, there is an easy way to overcome this. Follow the steps below to create your own personal Teams Meeting space with an easy to remember link.
- Open Teams and click the Calendar button in the navigation bar.
- Click the Meet now button at the top right of the window.
- Click the Get a link to share button. This generates a unique Teams Meeting link for you.
- Click the copy meeting link button just to the right of the meeting link provided. This copies the link to your clipboard.
Now that you have a unique link for your meeting, we will use a free online service to create your vanity URL.
- Browse to https://tinyurl.com/app.
-
Paste your Teams Meeting link created previously where it asks you to Enter long link here.
-
Provide an alias for your URL. This can be most anything you like. For example: MeetWithJohnDoe.
- Now you have a unique and shortened Teams Meeting link you can use to start a meeting and share with others to join this personal meeting space.
