VPN access for employees
On rare occasions, university employees might find the need to access internal network resources wile off campus. This is only necessary when such resources are restricted to internal network access only. In these rare instances, authorized employees may establish a virtual private network (VPN) connection from their remote device to the campus network.
Requirements
To access Oklahoma City University's network via VPN, the following requirements must be met:
- You are an Oklahoma City University employee or approved contractor.
- You submit a request for VPN access providing justification.
- You understand and follow all university policies just as you would while on campus.
Setup
Upon approval, you will have access to the VPN service. This service requires an application, the GlobalProtect agent, to be installed on the remote device intending to use the VPN service. Here are the steps to install the application:
- Browse to https://azure-portal.okcu.edu.
- Login with your OCU credentials.
- Click the download link appropriate for your device.
- Install the application.
- Once installed, the application will launch and ask for the portal address. Here you will enter: azure-portal.okcu.edu
- You will now be prompted for your OCU credentials to make a connection.
Use
You should only connect to OCU's VPN service when you are planning to immediately access university resources requiring such access.
To connect, launch the GlobalProtect application and click the Connect button. On Windows-based devices, the GlobalProtect application can be found running in the system tray. You will be taken through the multifactor authentication process with your OCU credentials.
When finished using VPN, click the Disconnect button.
