Microsoft 365: Resetting a password and maintaining your security information
You will provide your OCU Microsoft 365 account's username and password when accessing most university resources. The username for this account is your university email address. As you login, you may be required to provide an additional way of verifying and proving your identity. This verification is known as multifactor authentication or MFA. This article is intended to help you manage your Microsoft 365 password as well as the security information related to the MFA process.
How do I recover a forgotten password?
To recover a forgotten password, you can take advantage of your previously provided security information to verify your identity and reset your password.
- Browse to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com

Enter your Microsoft username, the random letters provided to you, then click Next.

Next you will choose one of the methods you have previously setup with Microsoft 365 to recover the account. This might include an alternate email address, texting a mobile number, calling a mobile number, answering security questions, or using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile phone. Choose one of these methods and respond to the prompts provided for that method. You may be required to choose multiple methods to prove your identity. Once finished, click Next.
- Enter a new password, confirm the new password, and click Finish.
How do I change my password?
If you know your password but wish to change it, follow these steps:
- Browse to https://account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com/ChangePassword.aspx
- Login with your Microsoft 365 username and password.

When prompted, provide your old password, new password, and confirmation of new password. Click Submit when finished.
How can I modify my security information?
Follow the following steps to add or modify your security information used for multifactor authentication when signing in or changing passwords:
- Browse to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info
- Login with your Microsoft 365 username and password.
- Click the Add sign-in method to provide additional methods beyond those you have previously provided. Note that it is recommended to only use mobile phones if you choose to use a phone as one of your methods.
- Click Change or Delete next to any existing method you wish to update.
- If you wish to change your default verification method, click Change next to Default sing-in method field and select a different method.
